Driver Stopped After Spike Belt Used

Police say they had to use it after spotting stolen vehicle in Grimsby, Hamilton woman charged

Police used a spike belt to stop a stolen vehicle in Grimsby on Sunday.

An officer noticed the stolen Subaru at around 3 in the afternoon, in the Windward Avenue area, with the help of licence plate technology.

Police say the driver refused to stop in a parking lot, almost hitting the officer, and again swerved near Hunter and Winston Roads before the spike belt was used, successfully.

However, the driver kept going, hitting another vehicle, but eventually stopped, police arresting the woman on Princess Boulevard.

Police say 39-year old Linsay Oak of Hamilton faces numerous charges:

  • Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Flight from Peace Officer
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime - Over $5,000
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime - Under $5,000
  • Failure to Stop after Accident
  • Driving While Under Suspension - two counts
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance
  • including driving under suspension.

She was released with a March court date.
