Kacey is being recognized for saving the life of her owner Ken Jessop
Kacey, an eight year old Lab, loves to swim in Lake Erie, but as she got older Ken was concerned for her safety and bought her a life jacket complete with a shark fin on top.
Two years ago on August 28th, Ken was sitting on the shore of the beach with his back to the water watching his beloved dog play.
That’s when a wave caught him unaware and dragged him into the water.
As he struggled in the riptide he grabbed a hold of something hard and it turned out to be the handle of Kacey’s life jacket who had swam out 100 feet to rescue her owner.
And ever since then Kacey has been called the "Lake Erie Lab Shark".
