UPDATE: Major Blaze in Thorold Forces Nearby Residents to Shelter in Place

The shelter in place order was lifted last night for residents living in the Beaverdams Road area, hours after flames broke out at an auto parts business in Thorold on the border with Niagara Falls. 

Huge plumes of smoke could be seen for miles. 

The business has been identified  as 406 Auto Parts.

On is website it says “ The operation is situated on a 10 acre fenced yard. Our buildings include 20,000 sq. ft. of storage warehousing and 4 dismantling bays.” 

No word on the cause or a damage estimate. 

In a release police say initial investigation has found no criminality.

NRP tweeting out during the blaze, a reminder to residents, that the operation of drones is strictly prohibited during emergency operations and could result in a $1,000 dollar fine. 

Niagara 411 posted drone footage of the fire yesterday on its Twitter account.
