Cooling Centres Opening Today

Niagara Falls and St. Catharines offering residents relief from the heat

With the heat alert in effect, Niagara's two largest cities are opening cooling centres today to help residents without air conditioning, beat the heat.

In Niagara Falls, the Public Library on Victoria Avenue and the History Museum on Ferry St. will be open for those looking to cool off from 11 to 3.

Niagara Falls transit will also be offering free rides to the cooling stations.

The city's seven splash pads and five swimming pools will be open until 7 pm during the heat alert.

In St. Catharines, splash pad hours will be open from  9 to 9 and outdoor pools until 8 pm

Cooling centres are also open at the St. Catharines Kiwanis Aquatics Centre and Russell Avenue Community Centre from 11 to 7.
