City proposing new fully accessible splash pad for Secord Woods Park.

The City of St. Catharines is asking for feedback from the public for a new fully accessible splash pad.

The City is proposing the new splash pad be installed at Secord Woods Park on Woodrow Street.

Last November, Council approved funding for the installation of the splash pad, as well as a seasonal washroom facility and sun shelter in the Merritton area.

"The proposed location for the new splash pad was carefully selected by City staff in consultation with the Outdoor Aquatics Facilities Task Force and the Recreation Master Plan Advisory Committee," said Eric Lamothe, Manager of Business Planning and Strategic Services. "The fully-accessible location is on a bus route with plenty of parking nearby and has the potential for future expansion."

The City hopes to break ground on the new facility next year and open in 2024.

Residents can provide their thoughts here by October 6th.

As well, a public information session will be held at the proposed site on September 21st from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
