The City has announced plans to name the newly built pavilion at Lakeside Park after Peart.
The announcement comes on the one year anniversary of Peart's death.
The pavilion will be known as the Neil Peart Pavilion at Lakeside Park.
Peart, who grew up in St. Catharines, immortalized his connection to Lakeside Park in a famous Rush song of the same name.
Council has also established the Neil Peart Commemorative Task Force this past year.
The task force, which aims to commemorate the drummer's life in music, has been meeting since last July in order to discuss a memorial.
They say that the memorial will also be in Lakeside Park, and an artist and a design will be selected within the next few weeks.
St. Catharines Mayor Walter Sendzik says the outpouring of support after Peart's death shows how beloved he is in the community.
"We want to be able to acknowledge and commemorate an iconic individual who has done so much for music, not just here in Canada, but around the world."
