Police tell us it's related to over 30 cases of property damage
Mischief charges have been laid against a St. Catharines man in connection to over 30 properties damaged by graffiti.
Since April, police have been looking into graffiti in downtown St. Catharines, eventually noting similar damage to commercial and private property, also St. Catharines and Niagara region property.
Police believe this all happened between October of 2022 and May of this year.
On Saturday, police charged 40-year old Anthony Johnson with:
- Mischief Over $5000 (Global Count)
- Mischief Under $5000 (2 Counts)
- Failing to Comply with Release Order
Global means the courts include multiple offences during a specific time period under one count, while recognizing the increased severity of the crimes.
They add there could be more unreported damage.
