Sexual Assault Centre says it needs funds to help people, so they're not turned away
The Niagara Sexual Assault Centre says more government funding will help it improve focus on directing survivors to overcome.
Program Manager Tricia Cosgrove tells us it's all about hearing their stories and listening to community providers.
"When service providers like the Niagara Sexual Assault Centre release statements about funding or about the need for increased attention on specific services, it's because we want to help," she says.
The centre has had to turn some people away needing help due to a lack of resources.
Cosgrove adds they do a lot of public education for grades one through to 12, as well as a hospital response program. "Most significantly would be our counciling services, that are just so needed. We definitely would love to be able to increase the number of councilors we have."
