Canada Wins Gold in Women's Soccer

Vancouver's Julia Grosso played the hero as Canada wins gold beating Sweden after a penalty kick shootout.

Canada has done the unthinkable, winning the gold medal in the Olympics for Women's soccer.

The game was a nail biter from start to finish. Sweden controlled the game for the most part taking a 1-0 lead in the first half.

Canada's Jesse Fleming scored in the 67 minute to tie the game a 1 goal apiece.

After two periods of extra time, nothing was settled and the game went into penalty kicks. After five penalty kicks apiece, both teams only scored twice, heading into sudden death. Canadian goaltender Stephanie Labbé stood on her head, making several amazing saves to keep Canada in it.

Jesse Fleming scored the first goal for Canada in the penalty kicks. Vancouver's Julia Grosso was the hero though scoring the third penalty kick for Canada to win the gold medal.
