Charge stems from stabbing in Niagara Falls
A 37 year old St. Catharines man is in police custody following a stabbing in Niagara Falls.
Police were called to the Jubilee Drive and Redhaven Crescent area yesterday evening, just after 6:00, where they found a woman in her 20's suffering a serious stab wound.
The woman was airlifted to an out of region hospital.
A man was seen fleeing the scene in a red Kia.
He was then involved in a crash in the Toronto bound lanes at the top of the Garden City Skyway.
He got out of the car and was involved in a standoff with officers, forcing police to close both lanes of the QEW while crisis negotiators talked to the suspect.
Finally around 2:00 this morning, the man surrendered.
Aaron Acton is charged with criminal harassment and attempted murder.
Officers on scene were assisted by the NRPS Domestic Violence Unit, NRPS Emergency Task Unit, NRPS Forensic Service Unit, 2 District Detectives, the Ontario Provincial Police, the Niagara Parks Police HART Team, the St. Catharines Fire Service High Angle Team and Niagara Emergency Medical Service personnel.
