A sad discovery near a former residential school in Saskatchewan.
The Cowessess First Nation confirms 751 unmarked graves were near the former Marieval residential school about 160 kilometres east of Regina.
The investigation began earlier this month, and were announced today.
Cowessess Chief Cadmus Delorme says these are unmarked graves, not a mass grave site.
He says there may have been markers for the sites at some point, but the graves were removed during the 1960s.
The graves are believed to belong to both children and adults.
This comes less than a month after the remains of 215 Indigenous children were found in unmarked graves at a former residential school in Kamloops, B.C.
