3-Way Stop Sign Planned for Port Robinson Road

Pelham councillor notes traffic calming measures meant for 15% of drivers

A 3-way stop sign will be installed at the corner of Port Robinson Road and Klager Avenue in Pelham, in order to slow traffic down.

Council voting unanimously this week, which includes a crosswalk.

Councillor Brian Eckhart noted more is needed besides traffic bullards.  "As we all know it, and as you've heard me say it before... traffic enforcement is never about the 85% that obey the laws, but about the 15% or less that seem not to, for whatever reason."

Part of this motion is to have that 3-way stop changed to a 4-way in the future.

Eckhart recalled one day when leaving the golf course a driver blew through an intersection.

"And the day before that, it was a white pickup truck, with 2 young people in it... who coming up the hill, I saw them, stopped, knew I had the right of way, but thought I'm going to wait... and they went right through that intersection at 50kms an hour, laughing as they did it."
