Tire goes through window of tour bus on QEW in St. Catharines
Traffic was backed up for hours after OPP closed down the QEW Toronto Bound on the bottom of the Garden City Skyway Friday afternoon.
Emergency crews responded shortly before 3:30 p.m. to the scene of a tour bus carrying 38 passengers that was struck by a tire of a minivan after it flew into the bus windshield. Striking and killing an unidentified 47-year-old man from Toronto who was a passenger on the coach bus.
A 45-year-old man from New York state who was driving the minivan that lost its wheel has been served a part-three summons for driving an unsafe motor vehicle.
Paramedics transported three people to a local hospital, one with a serious eye injury and two others with minor injuries from glass.
